Every Thursday we donate $1 for every beer poured in our taprooms, and each month we support a new cause, and this month is for Mother Hen!

A cause near and dear to our hearts, as our very own Mother Hen, Melissa, lives with MS every day. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. The cause of MS is still unknown. Scientists believe that a combination of environmental and genetic factors contribute to the risk of developing MS.

The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. The National MS Society, a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS NOW — to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis

The Becker Big Lake Ice Association is looking to build a 30,000 square foot multi-purpose ice arena right here in Big Lake. The facility will be able to support a broad range of youth activities and public events. Having an ice arena here is Big Lake will allow our youth hockey teams that currently have to drive to Princeton to practice, sometimes at 5 AM in the morning, to play right here in town, bringing other teams to the area which will benefit the local economy.
