MEET THE METAL HEALTH FOR MENTAL HEALTH 2024 BANDS!

Nuisance

Nuisance has been around for decades, hailing from the twin cities area Nuisance continues to evolve and stay relevant. Nuisance has played with some of the biggest metal bands in the world on their musical quest.

Nuisance is beyond excited to play metal health this year because it’s a cause that has been dear to our hearts. Nuisance has written a lot of songs about mental health in hopes of even helping just one person through their hard times. We have all lost a lot of loved ones due to mental health related issues over the years. Some very close to home. We hope to honor our lost loved ones in spreading the word and awareness.

Menace

Menace is a hard rock/party rock/metal band formed in the Mpls northwest metro area in April of 2001. Menace has performed throughout the Midwest in both Headlining roles as well as support for some of the largest acts in the rock world.

Dreams Aside

Dreams Aside is a metalcore band from the Twin Cities. They released their first full-length album "Lotus" in July 2022 and continue to write new music and play shows.

“Dreams Aside believes that caring for one's mental health is paramount to one's being, and we've found that live music can be great medicine for our mental health.”

Leaving Hope

Leaving Hope is a hard rock band from Minneapolis, MN. Each member brings their unique influences into the band to create a refreshing blend of thunderous drums and bass, punchy, screaming guitars, and powerful vocals that all compliment equally powerful lyrics. It is this combination, coupled with their work ethic, great attitudes, and hunger that showcase the undeniable prowess possessed by Leaving Hope.

We've all known someone, or been someone, with mental health struggles. Just as we've all known or been someone with physical struggles. Music has helped us all heal in our own lives and journeys that brought us together. To be able to help raise funds, awareness, and to de-stigmatize mental health issues is we are blessed and grateful to be a part of. I don't think any of us in this band hasn't known/loved someone who lost their battles to mental health struggles. "There's always more daylight..."

Mirror of Being

Mirror of Being has been around for a decade.  They are comprised of five musicians who share the same love and passion of the metal genre and pride themselves in providing a memorable live show.  Playing a groovy brand of 2000's metal-core; the band highlights driving riffs, hard-hitting patterns, smashing solos, and a favorable mix of screams and clean vocals.

As Mirror of Being, we hold mental health close to our hearts. Our music is a reflection of the human experience, including the struggles and triumphs of mental health journeys. We believe in the power of music to heal, build resilience and connect with one another.  We're grateful for the opportunity to share our message at this festival for the third year.  The Metal Health for Mental Health event provides a sense of community and a space for emotional release, both on and off stage.  Thank you for embracing us and allowing us to contribute to the conversation around mental wellness through our art.

Waves Collide

Like many artists and performers, mental health struggles are very much a part of our existence. For many of us, some of the most potent and sometimes only solace and sense of belonging has come from being involved in the musical community and especially the metal community. Here it doesn't matter where you are from, what you look like, what language you speak, or how you are broken. All are welcome. Ask for a hug and you'll get the biggest you've ever had. Ask for a pit and you'll get the same.

Metal Health for Mental Health is especially important to us in that we want to further spread the word on how healing and welcoming the metal scene in the Twin Cities is.  Though it can look intimidating from the outside sometimes for a first timer, you are welcome with open arms.  You are already our family even if we haven't met, and we are all in this together.  Some of your favorite songs by your favorite artists were written crying in a shower or sitting alone in a park feeling lost.  You are not alone.  We are family and we can't wait to meet you.

Weekend Picnic

Weekend Picnic is a band set apart. With a goal to make super accessible rock music, Weekend Picnic is a melting pot of flavors and styles. Hard rock is probably the broadest genre title for them, but they constantly push those genre borders by incorporating influences from pop, dance, metalcore, metal, pop rock, punk rock, and many others to bring you a high energy, rhythmic, and grooving product that is sure to get you singing along at the top of your lungs!

Mental health has always been an important cause to Weekend Picnic. We write a lot of our songs about inspiring hope in seemingly hopeless situations, and quite honestly writing and performing this music is an outlet that is truly helpful to our mental health.

DRUID

Druid is a melodic hardcore band from the twin cities.

Prypiat

A four piece progressive death/doom metal band from MN formed in 2008. From the heaviest depths, to soaring melodies, they adhere to no musical boundaries.

“Mental health issues affect countless lives every day, and to help benefit The Scars Foundation and the work they are doing is something we are very proud to be involved in. We could not be more excited to share the stage with some of our favorite local friends for such an excellent cause!”
